Can my son or daughter bring in a birthday treat?
Of course! We strongly believe it is very important to recognize everyone's special day. We only ask that you bring enough for both 5th grade classes (24) and be mindful that we are a peanut-free school.
What is the homework policy for fifth grade?
Your child will have an ongoing homework assignments every night, including
weekends. This assignment is reading for at least 20-30 minutes each day.
The reading can be done by just your child, you may read to your child or it
can be a combination of the two. This does not include assigned reading.
There will also be a weekly assignment in spelling. The class will be
assigned a new spelling lesson and a word list the first day of each new
school week. The lesson will be due the end of each week at which time there
will also be a test on the words for the week. This will begin the first
full week of school.
All other homework will be assigned daily. Students are responsible for
writing down their assignments each day. During the first month of school,
we will initial their assignment books daily to make sure they haven’t
forgotten to write anything down.
